Lost / damaged items can be paid for or replaced.
We recommend you double check all locations you may have taken the item e.g. at home, in your car, with friends and at the library before making any payment or purchase.
Paying for a lost / damaged item
If the item you have lost / damaged is 4 weeks overdue then the invoice charge will appear on your account after the 4th overdue notification has been sent out.
Or, if the item has not been reserved, you will need to notify library staff ASAP that the item is lost / damaged and we will add the invoice charge to your account immediately.
No refunds can be made once an item has been paid. If you do find the item after payment you are entitled to keep that copy.
Replacing a lost / damaged item
You have the option to purchase a replacement copy of a lost / damaged item as an alternative to paying the replacement charge.
If you choose this option there are strict replacement copy criteria which must be adhered to and we will only accept a replacement copy if:
- It is in excellent condition (no handwritten notes / highlighting or damage to physical item)
- It has the same ISBN
- Or it is the latest edition (which will be a different ISBN) and should mention the edition number either on the front page or within the first few pages.
We will not accept any an older editions, different titles/authors, any notes or highlighting of internal text or any ex-library books.
No refunds can be made once an item has been replaced. If you do find the item after replacement you are entitled to keep that copy.
