Lost/damaged items can be paid for or replaced.

We recommend you double check all potential locations before making any payment or purchase. as 

 

Paying for a lost/damaged item

If the item you have lost/damaged has been reserved and is four weeks overdue then the invoice charge will appear on your account after the fourth overdue notification has been sent out.

If the item has not been reserved, you will need to notify library staff ASAP that the item is lost/damaged and we will add the invoice charge to your account immediately.

No refunds can be made once an item has been paid for. If you do find the item after you have made your payment then you are entitled to keep that copy.

Replacing a lost/damaged item

You have the option to purchase a replacement copy of a lost/damaged item as an alternative to paying the replacement charge.

If you choose this option there are strict replacement copy criteria which must be adhered to and we will only accept a replacement copy if:

  • It is in excellent condition (no handwritten notes/highlighting or damage to physical item)
  • It has the same ISBN or it is the latest edition (which will be a different ISBN). The edition number will be on the front page or within the first few pages.

We will not accept any older editions, different titles/authors, items which include any notes or highlighting or any ex-library books.
