The following email has been issued to approximately 200 or so students to ask them to move onto Outlook (from Google Play Store or iTunes) on their mobile devices as the old legacy email is switched off.
In keeping with best practice with regard to the security of information, the University is ceasing the support of email clients that connect using IMAP and POP.
Support for the older IMAP and POP systems will be withdrawn on 12th November and applications that use them will no longer work. Typically this would be the inbuilt mail app on your phone or tablet.
The University recommends the use of the Outlook app which is available for all mobile devices. You can download the Outlook app for Android and iOS devices from the Google Play Store or iTunes respectively.

Some 350 staff were sent the same email about a month ago and most have successfully made the transition with no intervention from ourselves.
