I’ve logged in but nothing is happening/I have a blank screen

Check the browser you are using.  Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are the best browsers to use.  Internet Explorer is unlikely to work and Safari and Edge can cause problems. 

The link said “Inter-institutional access failure. Please contact your system administrator for assistance” (or something similar)

This is almost always a browser issue.  Try using Chrome or Firefox or clearing the browser cache.  This is different for each browser and moves when browsers upgrade (which is often).  Searching for ‘How to clear the cache on [x] browser’ is the best advice.
